For over 35 years, Tony Thompson has been the heart and soul of Bewdley Farm Shop. Starting his journey at just 16, Tony’s passion for fresh, locally-sourced produce led him to take over the business at 18. Under his dedicated stewardship, Bewdley Farm Shop has flourished into a beloved local gem, renowned for its exceptional quality and friendly service.

The bewdley farm shop Story
Back in the 1700s the building where we are situated used to be a stable for horses. This happened to be for many years up until the years around 1940 where it was converted to a little shop. In the late 1980s the shop was soon to be took over by a young 17 year old Tony Thompson.
Fast forward 37 years and here we are. Supplying quality fruit, veg, salad to all our customers, pubs, restaurants, schools, hotel, cafe, fish bars and much much more.

- 1987
Tony starts work at Bewdley Farm Shop aged 17

After unexpectedly being made redundant, Tony is offered a temporary job at Bewdley Farm Shop when the current owner, Alan Evans needed some extra help. Little did Tony know just how permanent the ‘temporary’ position would become….
- 1990
Tony Becomes The New Owner Of Bewdley Farm Shop

Not long after accepting the job, Mr Evans, announced his plans to retire. At the age of 18 Tony took a leap of faith to purchase the business from him. Becoming the proud owner of the business on the 14th May 1990.

Tony’s First Sign Written Van

In August 1991, Tony purchased his first ‘Brand New’ van, sign written with the new shop logo.

3 Members Of Staff

As the business starts to grow, Tony employs 2 extra members of staff to join the team.
- 1993
Tony Adds A Market Stall

Tony utilises the space at the side of the shop to provide a stall at the entrance of Bewdley market. A few years later he adds another stall at Load Street end of the market, opposite the Mulberry Restaurant.

5 Members Of Staff

As the wholesale side of the company starts to grow, Tony increases his staffing to 5 members, including his first delivery driver. Tony emphasises the importance of community, with many long serving staff members, creating a family-like atmosphere.

Tony Purchases His 2nd Van

As the demand for fresh produce increases, Tony requires more space in the van for his wholesale market purchases and buys a larger van.

Bewdley Farm Shop Gets a Re-fit

Tony introduces a self service system. Adding a separate salad, fruit and veg section customers can now help themselves and select their own produce.

Bewdley Farm Shop Expands

The farm shop gains a reputation for its quality and friendly service, building strong relationships with both local customers and tourists.
Tony emphasizes the importance of community, with many staff members remaining with the shop from the beginning, creating a family-like atmosphere. - 2007
Tony Buys A 3rd Van

With the forever growing demand for home deliveries, Tony invests in a smaller van. This would be used for local deliveries and could be driven by all members of staff.

Major Refurbishment Of Shop

Tony decides to refurbish the shop, ripping out all fixtures and flooring to create a new modern look. The introduction of a new EPOS till system makes serving customers smoother and more efficient.

Another Van Joins The Fleet

Bewdley Farm Shop continues to thrive, offering free delivery and maintaining a strong presence in the local community. To make our delivery service even more efficient and faster we add another van

Bewdley farm Shop Celebrates Its Silver Jubilee

The Farm Shop gains a reputation for its quality and friendly service, building strong relationships with both local customers and tourists

Covid-19 Hits

As the country stays at home, the need for home delivery rockets. Inundated with orders, Tony reacts by purchasing another van and cold storage trailer. This allows us to be able to extend our delivery services to a maximum and insure we are able to meet supply and demand.

Tony Celebrates 30 Years In Business

Bewdley Farm Shop continues to thrive in the local community. Many customers join Tony to celebrate 30 years in business with cards, gifts and good wishes

Following on from a town initiative, we continue to offer ‘ Tony’s Tenners ‘on a permanent basis. The £10 Salad, Fruit and Veg boxes become one of our top sellers offering best value, quality produce.
